We are a family owned residential construction company that takes pride in our work and the relationships we build with our clients. Owners Matt and Amy Gruber oversee all operations based out of their hometown of Brentwood Bay, BC.
Our History
Harbour Oak Homes was created by Matt & Amy to specialize in new home design and construction and perform custom home builds from start to finish. Achieving a high level of quality while working within the project budget is one of our main goals. We also provide property development and subdivision management services for our clients and perform renovations to existing homes.
Meet The Family

Matt is a second generation builder who grew up in the construction industry of greater Victoria. From a young age, he worked on building homes ranging from single family houses to multi-unit condominium projects. Working “hands-on” at each site has always been one of Matt’s core values to ensure quality is achieved on each home we build. Matt learned how to build houses in the “old school” method —that “tried and true” mentality that has dominated residential construction methodology for many years. He learned the fundamentals of building homes under that depth of knowledge but is not afraid of introducing new products and materials that will improve upon the rules and practices of previous generations.
At Harbour Oak, we aren’t simply building the same houses as other builders — we understand the benefits and drawbacks of standard practices and have adopted new techniques that other builders have not. We embrace new methods and approaches to construction and weigh their benefits and drawbacks against the lessons we have already learned.

Matt has worked for himself, for his fathers company, and for one of the largest and oldest construction companies on the island. Throughout that time he has worked to hone his skills and learn new skills on a continuing basis, he is a Gold Seal certified project manager with the Canadian Construction Association.
